Before the program, I didn’t know how to express my fears and sadness after losing my family in the insurgency. Through the creative play sessions, I’ve learned to share my feelings and understand that I am not alone in my struggle.

      excerpt from Reinforcing Resilience (2016)
Seeing children smile again after so many years of trauma is heartwarming. The creative play programs have given them a safe space to process their experiences and start healing.

I had been unable to sleep properly since the conflict began. But after participating in the play-based activities, I began to feel lighter. I’ve learned how to communicate my fears and connect with others who share similar experiences. I feel stronger now, and I know I’m not alone in my journey of recovery.

As a mother, it’s heartbreaking to watch your children suffer in silence after all they’ve been through. But after joining the creative play sessions, my son started talking about his feelings for the first time in months. It’s as if a weight has been lifted from his heart. These programs are truly a lifeline for our families.
Female (Teachers’ Village IDP Camp, Maiduguri.)
The creative play programs have brought a sense of hope to our community. We have seen children and women, who were once isolated and withdrawn, coming together to heal and rebuild their lives. Through these activities, the community is beginning to reconnect and regain the strength to move forward.

I used to be scared and confused, not knowing what my future would be. Thanks to the PSS sessions, I’ve learned how to manage my stress and make new friends. I’m starting to believe that I can have a future, even after all the pain I’ve experienced,

The adolescent program gave me the confidence to speak up about my experiences. I never knew I could express myself like this before. I now know that my voice matters and that I have the power to change my life for the better.
